What Does It Take to Be #WhatsNext? [Part 1]
Over the next three months I will be writing a series of blogs that will share how our employees have achieved success as a result of demonstrating our Guiding Principles.
Up first, is ‘we take initiative and are proactive’. I asked our Associate Account Representatives to provide us with a few examples -
- "I recently did some digging and identified a reporter to invite to my client’s upcoming user conference. Not only was she eager to attend the conference, she wrote a great piece on the keynote, and we were then able to connect her with customers for two additional follow up stories, one of which has appeared and the other one should be posting any day. We’ve now developed a strong relationship with this reporter who has a very positive view of our client – a great asset to have as the company is rapidly shifting focus to meet industry needs."
- "Our client’s CMO mentioned to the team in a planning meeting that he needs help being more active on social media and so we have taken the initiative to provide him with content that he can share to a) build his following and b) establish him as a thought leader in the industry. He was very excited and satisfied with the tweet and accompanying article we recommended to him last week and ultimately pushed it from his personal social media channels."
- "During the summer, our client had an announcement that came out, and as a result the team secured 15-20 briefings over the course of 2 weeks. I proactively started the briefing docs before a team member asked me to do so, which resulted in better time management on my part, and for all briefing docs to be completed and given enough time for the managers/SARs to go over without cutting it too close to the deadline. In addition, if someone had a change of thought and wanted either something put in or a format changed, I went ahead and changed it so others didn’t have to do it. The final result was that the team sent our client all of the necessary materials needed in advance so everyone was well prepared."
- "We are proactively monitoring industry articles and Twitter streams looking to develop proactive pitch ideas around themes and trends. For one of our clients, the team holds weekly meetings to discuss these upcoming pitch angles and results. By proactively monitoring for new opportunities and discussing best ways to approach topics, we are able to create fresh ideas and stay relevant in the industry."
