LPP Wins Gold Bulldog Award for Best Use of Digital in a B2B Technology Campaign
Most of us hate email blasts, but one of my favorite things at Lois Paul and Partners is sending or receiving an “ALL AGENCY” email with news about successful launches, team accomplishments and what brings me here today -- winning awards, and taking names.
For several years, LPP had helped Freescale break through the noise at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). But personal technology has moved on from headphones and CD players that debuted at the show many decades ago. Through all of this change, Freescale has competed for mindshare against other tech giants.
Enter Freescale’s 2012 Smart Mobile Device Pundit campaign. Winner of the GOLD Bulldog Digital/SocialPR award in the Best Use of Digital in a B2B Technology Campaign category!
What is it? A contest designed to recognize the frontline informants who report on the latest in consumer device trends, reviews and news. Although winners are announced, a prize is not awarded – instead, those who receive the most votes during the campaign are awarded the title of “Smart Mobile Device Pundit.”
What was different in 2012? Freescale put a call out for nominations for the Top 20 pundits to be named directly by the community. Once nominations closed, Freescale and the Top 20 pundits rallied their communities to vote for their favorite pundits via Freescale’s Facebook Page.
The results? More than 7,000 votes were tallied by the end of the contest -- a 400% increase in participation overall! Twitter was also a-buzz, with nearly 1,000 tweets about the contest, reaching 10 million users. This reach was amplified by posts on Twitter by the Top 20 Pundits, their colleagues, and their publications’ official sites and social media accounts.
I'm proud to have the opportunity to work on a campaign that not only shows off our agency's digital capabilities, but also our expertise integrating traditional and nontraditional approaches in order to achieve results in the areas of media relations, thought leadership, reputation building, and social media content strategy.
The overall results for our client and the great conversations we had with tech pundits throughout the campaign were already the reward our team needed. But winning the gold feels really, really nice.
Does your organization have an existing or new campaign that could really benefit from a digital boost? You know who to call! (Hint: It's LPP).
