We'll Miss You, Joe Fuentes
The PR industry lost one of its great ones this past Tuesday when long-time communications professional and legendary former Denver journalist Joe Fuentes, 64, passed away from complications of cancer.
We had the privilege of working with Joe for over four years when he headed communications at StorageTek in the Denver area. I can honestly say that he is one of the kindest, nicest human beings I've ever encountered. I always enjoyed talking with him because he almost made the day seem brighter despite whatever stressful situations we were working on together.
"It's going to be a great day!" is something Joe said frequently, and his voicemails sometimes described how beautiful the sun over the Rockies was that day. He made you smile just to hear his voice and enjoy that unflagging spirit of optimism.
Joe worked with our agency team as a true partner and quickly became a good friend. "Your team is doing a great job. We're really cooking now" is something he would tell me, never missing an opportunity to say "thank you" or give praise for hard effort and good work.
All of us at LP&P are very saddened by this great loss.
Funeral services for Joe are being held in Denver early next week. Details are in the link provided above. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory can be made to Samaritan House, 2301 Lawrence St., Denver, CO 80205.
